Staff

SPII’s board and staff collectively represent an impressive collection of skills, knowledge and most importantly, experience drawn from a variety of progressive structures and organisations both pre -and post -transition. This social capital provides SPII with access to an extensive network of people both locally, regionally and internationally that we are able to draw on and that qualitatively add to our work.

Director: Isobel Frye

Isobel was appointed director by the first Board in 2006. She has overseen the development of SPII from its infancy. Isobel’s own research areas are in poverty, socio-economic rights and social protection. She has a BA LLb and a Higher Diploma in Tax Law from the University of Cape Town. Previously Isobel worked as a Senior researcher in poverty eradication and socio-economic rights at NALEDI, and before that as the National Advocacy Manager at the Black Sash. Prior to that Isobel practised as an attorney in commercial law at Walker’s Attorneys.

Financial Administrator : Erik M Douwie

Erik handles the financial administration and accounting of the organisation. He worked previously for A Cloete & Associates and prior to that, for Jubilee South Africa as a Bookkeeper. “I believe that an organisation needs good financial record keeping and accountability in order to function properly, and so respect donor contracts” says Erik.

Personal Assistant to the Director: Fortunate Mabuza

Fortunate is a Personal Assistant to the Director. She attained Diploma and her day to day duties include managing SPII offices and the office of the Director and her diary, planning prioritization, and managing appointments; functions; workshops and meetings. Fortunate has had extensive experience in logistical planning, public relations, business development and customer relationship management.

Receptionist: Delphine Ngcongo

Ntombifuthi Delphine is a Receptionist; she helps the SPII offices with Administration work including management of outgoing and incoming post, she has a Certificate of Ms Office Package and she has been with SPII since 2008
